This committee was formed because of SSB 5517 giving the governor of the State of Washington the authority to appoint a student from each four-year public institution to serve as member of their respective board of trustee or board of regents. At Eastern Washington University, the process begins early winter quarter when submissions are accepted and continues into spring quarter when the applications are reviewed. No more than five (5) candidate applications are forwarded to the governor by the April 15 deadline.
