An act establishing ASEWU Representative Assistants.
Be it enacted by the ASEWU Council that:

SECTION 1: Purpose

The following four (4) positions are hereby created: Representative Assistant 1, Representative Assistant 2, Representative Assistant 3, and Representative Assistant 4.

SECTION 2: Responsibilities

ASEWU Representative Assistants shall:

  1. Meet twice a month with the Speaker Pro Tem to discuss current and possible projects;
  2. Assist individual representative engaged in researching topics in their departmental area or standing committee unless otherwise directed by the Speaker Pro Tem.
  3. Maintain two (2) office hours a week and attend at least four (4) ASEWU Council meetings a quarter; and
  4. Submit a monthly written report, which briefly describes the progress in his/her project(s). Reports shall be submitted to the ASEWU speaker Pro Tem and shall include:
    1. Meetings attended;
    2. Communications with individuals pertinent to departmental area;
    3. Issues of concern to the ASEWU Council and any recommendations, if any; and
    4. Other information, comments, etc. pertinent to the ASEWU Council.
SECTION 3: Eligibility

To be eligible for any of the four (4) Representative Assistant positions all applicants must:

  1. Be enrolled for a minimum of six (6) credit hours at EWU during the quarter in which they wish to be considered; and
  2. Have and maintain at least a two point five (2.5) cumulative grade point average at the University.
SECTION 4: Selection

The selection will be made by the ASEWU Speaker Pro Tem with at least simple majority (one half plus one of the voting membership) approval of the ASEWU Council.

SECTION 5: Removal

Any ASEWU Representative Assistant may be removed from his/her position by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the ASEWU Council.

SECTION 6: Compensation

There shall be no salary or hourly wage for this position.

SECTION 7: Term

All ASEWU Representative Assistants will be appointed for the duration of the academic school year (excluding summer quarter) in which they are appointed.
