Bylaw: Disposition: Date of Disposition: Date Introduced: | 2000-2001/307____ Passed___________ June 5, 2001______ April 10, 2001 ____ | | An act establishing the Bookstore Advisory Committee. Be it enacted by the ASEWU Council that: SECTION 1: Purpose The purpose of the Bookstore Advisory committee shall be to provide recommendations to the University Bookstore manager on matters of major policy direction for the University Bookstore and extensions of said bookstore, and to investigate all problems related to the University Bookstore and extensions of said bookstore. SECTION 2: Membership The membership of the Bookstore Advisory committee shall consist of: - Four (4) student at-large appointed by the ASEWU President with the advice and consent of the ASEWU Council; and
- Four (4) faculty members appointed by the Faculty Senate.
All of the above members shall have full voting rights. The Dean of Students shall serve as non-voting members on the committee. Each faculty and student member shall be appointed for a two (2) year term. Two (2) faculty and two (2) student members shall be appointed each year providing an overlap with the other two (2) faculty and two (2) student positions. SECTION 3: Vacancy Upon the occurrence of a vacant student at-large position, the ASEWU Council can approve a qualified ASEWU appointed official to that position until a qualified at-large student applies. Upon appointment of an at-large student, the ASEWU official shall relinquish his/her committee position. SECTION 4: Chairperson The committee shall elect a chairperson from the voting membership at the last regularly scheduled meeting of spring quarter for a one (1) year term. The chairperson shall: - Chair all Bookstore Advisory Committee meetings;
- Coordinate with the secretary to make sure accurate records are being kept;
- Bring all pertinent information to the committee; and
- Report to the ASEWU Council on a quarterly basis (excluding summer quarter).
SECTION 5: Meetings The Bookstore Advisory committee shall meet at least once (1) each quarter (excluding summer quarter) and as necessary. SECTION 6: Removal of Members By a resolution from the Bookstore Advisory committee, approved by two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the ASEWU Council, any student member of the Bookstore Advisory committee may be removed from the committee for failure to meet his/her responsibilities.
