An act relating to recognizing ASEWU clubs, organizations, and programs.
Be it enacted by the ASEWU Council that:

SECTION 1: Registration

In order to be registered with ASEWU, all clubs, organizations, and programs must have filed and update each academic year with the ASEWU:

  1. A current constitution;
  2. A current "Student Organization Recognition" form;
  3. A list of officers;
  4. A campus advisor’s signature; and
  5. A current advisor or club email address.

Programs are exempt from the requirement to submit a constitution. With a majority approval of the ASEWU Finance Vice President, ASEWU Council Position #6, Student Activities, and the advisor of clubs and organizations, programs can be exempt from any other registration requirement.

SECTION 2: Recognition Policies

All clubs, organizations, and programs that receive recognition from the ASEWU shall adhere to the following policies.

  1. No university policies or city, state, and federal laws shall be violated. This includes but shall not be limited to filing and competing travel policies, activity permits, and fundraising forms;
  2. All activities shall be free of charge to EWU students unless advance approval is granted by the advisor for clubs and organizations;
  3. All activities shall take place on the EWU campus (Cheney or Spokane) unless prior approval is granted by the advisor for clubs and organizations; and
  4. Attend at least three (3) ASEWU club and organization meetings per academic year.
SECTION 3: Benefits

Benefits afforded to clubs, organizations, and programs that are registered are as follows:

  1. Priority use of rooms in the Pence Union Building;
  2. Possible office space in the Pence Union Building;
  3. No charge on vendor tables in the Pence Union Building;
  4. Inclusion into the current ASEWU clubs, organizations, and programs list;
  5. Borrowing of audio/visual equipment purchased by ASEWU, at the discretion of ASEWU or its designee;
  6. Use of ASEWU white butcher paper, paints and markers;
  7. Ability to fundraise on campus, upon approval of the Dean of Students and/or his/her designee;
  8. Mailbox in ASEWU office, if space is open;
  9. Establishment of a class and club account; and
  10. Guidance and support by the advisor for clubs and organizations.
SECTION 4: Penalties

This bylaw shall be enforced according to the most recent version of bylaw 706.

SECTION 5: Rescinded

Bylaw 02-03/401A is hereby rescinded.
