An act establishing the ASEWU Eagle Entertainment Board.
Be it enacted by the ASEWU Council that:

SECTION 1: Purpose and Mission

ASEWU’s Eagle Entertainment Board is a student-centered, campus based entertainment provider. Their mission is to provide quality events for the entire campus and community, as well as to use entertainment to educate and supply opportunities for cultural enrichment. Eagle Entertainment is designed to serve the extracurricular interests of Eastern Washington University’s students and to enhance the educational and leisure opportunities on campus.

As facilitators for students they will achieve this goal through an approachable and collaborative work environment that involves students in event planning and preparation while working in cooperation with other departments and academic programs.

SECTION 2: Affiliations

Eagle Entertainment is a part of Student Life and the Office of Student Activities at the University and is funded by the ASEWU. The Student Activities Office oversees the day-to-day activities and operations of this student group. On national and regional levels, Eagle Entertainment is affiliated with the National Association of Campus Activities (NACA) and the Association of College Unions International (ACUI).

SECTION 3: Membership

Eagle Entertainment Board membership shall consist of:

  1. The nine (9) coordinators (including the chairperson);
  2. The ASEWU Student Activities Representative;
  3. The Director of Student Activities; and
  4. One (1) Program Manager (based on funding).
Based upon cooperative funding agreements external to the funds provided by ASEWU, more positions maybe available. (Example: based upon available work-study funding.) The student positions are selected to serve for one full academic year beginning fall quarter and lasting until the end of the following spring quarter. Individuals must reapply for positions each academic year. Selected areas of specific responsibility will be assigned on a year-to-year basis based upon the specific strengths and interests of that year’s applicants. Speaking rights:
  1. Those who have signed up as volunteers on Eagle Entertainment committees;
  2. Clubs and organizations, departments, or guests requesting co-sponsorship from Eagle Entertainment; and
  3. The Eagle Entertainment Production Team, commonly referred to as E2’s.

 

SECTION 4: Voting

All voting of program proposals will be done by the Eagle Entertainment Board at the open public meetings mentioned above. Quorum for Eagle Entertainment Board is two-thirds (2/3) of the Board Members. The simple majority of those present must vote in favor of a program in order for it to be passed. The Eagle Entertainment Chairperson shall only vote when their vote matters.

SECTION 5: Removal

If a functional area coordinator misses more than two (2) meetings in one (1) quarter without a previously excused reason approved by the Eagle Entertainment Chairperson, or an emergency as approved by the Director of Student Activities, the individual will be brought up for disciplinary action by the Director of Student Activities or the Eagle Entertainment Chairperson. This may include sanctions by the Eagle Entertainment Board or a recommendation to the ASEWU Council for a vote of removal.

SECTION 6: Rescinded

Bylaw 02-03/601 is hereby rescinded.
