The Student Legislative Action Coalition exists to increase student awareness of and interest in legislative affairs, and to provide a voice for the students-at-large in student advocacy. We want to inform and involve students in the legislative issues that affect them and their educational experience, and to create a more tangible presence for EWU on the capitol campus. |

SLAC (Student Legislative Action Coalition) is a student advocacy group open to any student at EWU. Our mission is provide a collective voice for Eastern students in Olympia. This is achieved in two forms: informing the student body of legislative issues that affect education, and involving them in efforts to express student views on those issues. SLAC has two levels of participation. The first level is general membership. These members participate in our email campaigns during the legislative session. These emails will be sent to the various legislatures that are currently reviewing those bills that negatively affect our school. The second level is the Coordinating Committee. Members of the coordinating committee meet every week to work on building student awareness and to coordinate events on campus to express student views and concerns. We welcome both levels of membership – no matter how much or how little time you can spare, we can always use your help. Get involved, and help us defend higher education from this budget crisis and for the future. |
