Eastern offers an educational, child-centered program to the children of EWU students, faculty, and staff. Approximately 85% of Enrollment represents student families. It is managed through a contract between EWU and the YMCA of the Inland Northwest, and is state licensed. The center serves children ranging from 6 weeks to 10 years of age. It provides full-time and part-time care, including after-school care and includes a state funded, four-year-old classroom - ECEAP. The program receives scholarship funds from the student government of EWU to reduce the cost of child care for EWU students who qualify. The center requires that lead classroom teacher credentials include an Early Childhood Education degree or experience and a State Training and Registry System (STARS) Certification. The program for childcare has been in operation since 1990.
